Have you ever been so sure of something you could almost see it? All my life, fashion has been my thing. It's what I know I'm good at and what I have a passion for. When deciding on a college, I even made sure the college I was looking at had a fashion major.
I know fashion is something I'm passionate about and I definitely see myself dabbling into the fashion industry a bit, but not in the way that I was previously thinking.

Recently, (as in like 2 weeks ago), I changed my major to Public Relations. I think it'll be a good fit for me. I want to go into the entertainment industry along with fashion and everyday lifestyle too. Eventually, I hope I can have my own management agency.
I plan to be skilled in a host of different things. Fashion, PR, Managerial Tasks, Blogging/Vlogging, Media Personality, etc. I want to do a lot and I don't want to be confined to one section of life.
2016 is the year of re-invention. It's the year I plan on doing a lot of work, getting myself out there more and trying new things to better myself and the brand I'm trying to build for myself. I'm aiming for a lot and my plan is to accomplish it all.
With that being said, I've decided to start fresh for the new year and create a new blog with a simpler name. New posts, who dis?
I plan to show you all a better representation of myself and show you exactly who I am and what I plan to do going into the future.
I know I'm not like blog famous, but I do want to say thank you if you've been reading my posts and thank you in advance for riding this wave with me. 2016 and beyond has some great things in store for me, I know it. Can't wait to show you all exactly what I have in store. I'll be sure to post when my new blog is up and running and thank you all in advance for the support..

The Roommate Tag!

How well do you know your roommate?
Living with someone can be nothing short of difficult. Who cleans what, where things go... It can all be very stressful. Luckily, I love my roommate like a sister. She's probably the sister I always wanted. Living with Micah is a breeze.
The TAG videos on YouTube are very popular and actually have really good questions. I decided to grab my Roomie and make our own Roommate Tag video!
I've been wanting to start my YouTube for a while now & this was the perfect platform to do so.
The questions we used were very solid and we found them by simply searching Roommate Tag Questions.

1. Did you guys know each other before you became roommates?
2. What did you guys initially think of each other the first time you met?
3. How long did it take until you guys became friends?
4. What do you guys usually argue about?
5. What is one thing that really bothers you that your roommate does?
6. What does she think of your YouTube?
7. Who spends the most time getting ready in the morning?
8. What was something that you two didn't notice about each other until you became roommates?
9. Do you guys sometimes get fed up with each other from seeing each other too often?
10. How do you avoid tension while living together?
11. What's one rule you guys have while living together?
12. How do you deal with sharing a bathroom?
13. What are your favorite things that you like to do with each other?
14. What is the funniest thing you've done together?
15. Has being roommates helped or hurt your relationship?

NYX Butter Gloss Review

I've missed blogging so much, but being in my first semester of college, I had to get adjust. Now, I'm back and I'm coming better than ever! I've got a bunch of new ideas that I can't wait to show them off.
To begin, I have for you all a review of a new product I started using. I absolutely love ittttttttttt!
If you know me, you know I love lipgloss. I'm all about the shine and making those lips pop.
I'm dark-skin, so I'm a bit self conscious when it comes to brighter colors. I still buy them because why not?!
MAC has been my all time favorite for a while now, but I wanted to try something new. I didn't want to be stuck in one brand. So, on a late night trip to Target with my bestie, I found my new love.
This lipgloss is absolutely amazing. One of my biggest pet peeves is lipgloss that goes on sticky and thick. The NYX gloss does the exact opposite. It's composition is just right. It isn't too runny where you use too much either. Another great side is the cute colors they come in. The two colors I have are Strawberry Parfait and Eclair.
These lip glosses are also very useful due to the fact that they stay on much longer than a lot of the lip products I own. They last majority of the day actually, and that's without touching them up like I feel the need to do.
So far, I only have two but I'm definitely going to get more. The best part (besides how cute they are) is the fact that they're only $4.99! For a college student who's always broke (like myself), they don't break the bank and they get the job done.

Would you recommend this product to others?

I absolutely do! I was a bit skeptical at first because I was so stuck on MAC, but now I'm definitely going to buy more and expand my collection.

Stay Pretty,

xoxo Dee <3

Move-In Day

The wait is over and it's finally happened! I made the transition from living at home, to being an official college student. It all happened so fast and suddenly, it actually threw me off guard.
From shopping, to packing, to organizing... it took months! I couldn't wait to actually leave the nest. I was so prepared to be on my own, doing my own thing. The wait got shorter and shorter as the days went by. Days leading up to the big day, I was an emotional wreck. I cried at the very thought of being away from my Mommy. I couldn't deal with anything rationally. I didn't know what to do. It was too late, I had no choice but to suck it up and prepare myself to move. I was sure that I wouldn't survive.

It now makes 5 days that I've been on campus and honestly, I think I'm doing pretty well.
It wasn't easy moving all these items into school, but it wasn't as bad as I thought.

I'm absolutely in love with my dorm room, even though I'm not in it a lot these days.. haha.
The theme I decided to go with on my side was along the color scheme of blue, black, white and grey. Now everyone that knows me knows that I am in love with pink, glitter and all things sparkly. I was able to get out of my comfort zone and try something new.

I decided to include Christmas lights to brighten up my life and add some sparkle to my life.
They're great for nights where I want to relax and just chill everything out.
As you can see, I added the two canvases from a previous post. They really tied my room together and made everything absolutely adorable. On the opposite wall, I have photos hanging up. They're pictures from important moments and people in my life. It really helps to keep my humble and close to home.

I have my desk area set up for just learning. I tried my very hardest to keep my makeup and extra things off of my desk. That way I'm better able to study and do homework. I also added a rug right in front of it so my feet will always be comfy.
Since I have to split the closet with my roommate -- space isn't as I would prefer, BUT I'm able to make it work. I have a shoe organizer (even though they don't all fit). I also have a six part organizer which I use as storage. I put extra towels, makeup, and products I'll need in it. In the blue tote, that is where I put all my extra snacks and drinks that aren't in my refrigerator.

Hopefully you all like my dorm designs! Have a productive and positive school year no matter what level you're at.

Girls' Emergency Kit

Being a girl is far from easy. Actually, I'd consider it a full time job. As a girl, there are situations we land in where we think - "Wow, it'd be great if I had ______ right now." or "I really need _____ right now." The words "right now" are the most important. I hate being in those situations, so it's better to avoid them. It's imperative that we're prepared for the most awkward of situations.

We are forced to expect the unexpected. There are items every girl should carry. These items are something like an emergency kit which can be a real lifesaver.

I personally have an emergency kit that I keep inside of my purse and carry it around with me. I keep it at all times.

Items to carry:

1. Deodorant - You never know when you'll need a little back up. It could be a party that gets way too crowded, or an early morning class that you ended up rushing to.

2. Hand Sanitizer - Clean hands are a must. When you're in public and grab a bite to eat, it can be a bit of a hassle to run to the bathroom first, so carrying sanitizer will make things quick and easy.

3. Lotion - Ashiness is serious, ladies. It feels dry and it isn't attractive one bit. Carrying around lotion can come in handy on more than one occasion.

4. Lipcare - Whether it's MAC, an EOS egg or Carmex, carry around something for your lips. You'll never know when your lips are dry or you simply need a little shine. Personally, I chose which lip product I carry depending on the day. Some days, I want the color of MAC. Other days, I want just simple Carmex.

5. Ponytail Holders - Hot or cold, sometimes you need to pull your hair up. Sometimes, you don't always want it down. This is a good item to have with you because you're always prepared. It also saves you the hassle of asking others if they have one.

6. Tylenol - I don't know how many times I've been out somewhere and caught a headache. It's even worse when you don't have anything to take for it. Having Tylenol available is perfect for those cases.

7.Gum - Sometimes, our breath isn't the freshest. Having gum at the ready is great. It can also be a really good icebreaker when you're in an awkward situation.

8. Pads/Tampons - One of the worse things that can happen is getting your cycle while you're out and have NOTHING to use. It feels disgusting and can ruin your day in an instant. Being prepared with one or two of these at the ready will always be safe.

9. Travel Pack Tissue - Snotty noses are a pest! What's even worse is having that one little bat in the cave and nothing to get it out with. We're not five, so using your finger is a NO-GO!

10. Emergency Cash - This is pretty straight forward as it is exactly what it's intended for... an EMERGENCY. Carry as much as you think you'll need, whether that be five dollars, ten dollars, etc. Be mindful of your cash. Use it for an emergency, not for "I could really use a burger right now.." or "Starbucks would be great." A frappe isn't an emergency. Use it wisely.

These are the contents of my personal emergency kit. I put all of these items in a clutch because I have a fairly large purse. Use whatever you're comfortable with. Good alternatives are possibly make up bags, or even jewelry pouches.
These emergency kits don't have to be made expensively. They're actually items that are lying around your house somewhere. Items that you use, you just don't carry.

Having an emergency kit can be a great thing and can truly be what you need when you get that unexpected nose bleed or the lecture is running a little too long. Whatever the situation may be that comes up, you'll be fine.

- Be prepared ladies!

Re-Inventing Yourself

As a teenager, especially going into college, everything is more than it seems to be. There is a daily struggle to find who you are and what you want to happen from this point forward. It feels like you're in a rut and every time you try to pull yourself out of that rut, you find yourself in deeper.

All of your problems won't be solved by dressing differently or changing your hairstyle but it can truly help. Often times, people will say "If you knew better, you'd do better." I feel this is similar to who we are. If you can look a little better, maybe you'll feel a little better. Dressing like a slob because you feel gross inside isn't the answer, TRUST ME.

I'm going through this mental battle myself, so I know exactly how it feels. I've been going through some crazy things in my head and often times I don't know what I'm going to do next. I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired.

I've wanted to change my hair color for a while now. With that being said, I finally went and got it done. Why not? I couldn't possibly feel any worse. Sometimes, those mental breaks are worse than any physical pain you can experience.

Getting this color in my hair actually helped me. I gained a little confidence because after I saw it, I was like "omg I look fine." It also helped me to remember that everything will be okay. The joy I felt when I first saw it and loved the way it looked, I remember feeling like that all the time. I want to feel like that again.

Now that I'm going into college, I have a new look that I absolutely love and I've taken a sigh of relief.

This doesn't have to be a direct relationship as everyone is different. You don't have to dye your hair. Do what's going to bring you back to that place you once were. Whether it's changing your outfits, wearing lipstick more often, reading novels, or listening to different music. Whatever it is that can help to put you back at your happy place, go for it. As long as it isn't dangerous and hurting you because that's not good either. Any progress is good progress because you're moving forward. No one likes to be in a rut. Get yourself out. Don't do it for anyone else, do it for you.

Stay Positive ❤️,

DIY Dorm Decor

Decorating a college dorm can be a lot of fun. You get to style it the way you want and put your individuality into it. While it is an exciting task, it can also be a very expensive one. Especially when you're still in the planning stages and are overwhelmed with themes, designs and what you think will look good. Being the girly-girl that I am, I've been on the hunt for the perfect designs since day 1. Different artwork and pictures can be sort of pricey, especially if you're paying for things yourself. An alternative to this is a D-I-Y project. This is a lot cheaper, and it's more personal. Once you spend your own time making something you're going to decorate and look at everyday, you're bound to appreciate it more and do a much better job on it. This project took me about and hour and a half to make. I got the idea from Pinterest. I looked up pretty dorm decor for girls. I was able to find an idea I absolutely LOVED. My roommate and I both really enjoy the color pink. I also wanted to make a project that would make our dorm our own. Thus, I went to Michael's and our monogram canvas was born.
I started out with 4 blank canvases, 2 letters (our initials), rhinestones and paint. I began by painting all 4 of the canvases. Two with designs and two that were plain with color. I decided to make one of ours the chevron design as it is one we both enjoyed. I designed our letters with paint and added a little sparkle to make it our own. The four canvases can be separated so that there is mine and hers, or we can leave it together as a wall design.

This project is going to be hanging in our dorm and is a great project because it is personal to us and it really ties the room together being what we enjoy. It expresses who we are and helps to decorate the room as it is a direct attention grabber for anyone who decides to stop by.

College Shopping Lists

Slowly, but surely it is becoming back to school season! For younger kids, this means new backpacks, crayons and pencil boxes. For incoming college freshman, this is one of the most stressful times of our life. Moving out and becoming more of an "adult", it's pretty scary. It is definitely not what we're used to.

When beginning to shop and prep for the upcoming school year, a list is a must. Searching online, there are a million lists to chose from. Some of them are very helpful. On the other hand, there are some you'd do better without. I had to find what would help me the most. I decided to compile a list of things I felt was necessary and add once I compared it to a list I found on Pinterest. I also had to realize that everything on those lists, I wasn't going to need. So I was able to edit and create a list of the necessary for myself.

I based my list off the first list pictured below and was able to use it as a platform. I also decided to save the list in my phone. This way, whenever I went to ANY store (and I do mean ANY) and found something on my list, I could cross it off immediately. As time goes on, I also edit my list. Adding and removing things if I no longer need it or if I find something else.

The second is my personal list. It was the list I used to shop with. It was very helpful as it is only July and I'm more than 50% done with my college shopping. Next step, PACKING!

Holiday Styles

Happy Fourth of July! In the spirit of Independence Day; red, white & blue has been everywhere. From flags and fireworks to store displays and fully patriotic outfits. Being the person that I am, I aimed to stay away from the typical flag themed outfits. I wanted to switch things up and try something new. This made me choose a completely theme thus changing what I typically do.

For the fourth, I decided I needed to put some print in my life. Solids bore me sometimes and they can get very routine very fast. With this, I was able to put together a pretty nice outfit.

Shoes: Nike KD 'Rugrat' sneaker with black "no-show" Nike socks.

Shorts: Black Floral Shorts (multicolored flowers).

Shirt: Lime green basic tee

I decided to keep jewelry simple and pair the look with a simple silver initial "D" lettered necklace.

To me, this was the perfect outfit. The weather was beautiful and it was so bright! Since it's not such a holiday-specific look, it works for other occasions as well. Whether it's a party, a day out, or a trip to Target. You'll feel comfortable, different (in a good way) and look amazingly stylish.

Hoping you all had a great holiday!!

College Discounts!

College is a place that reaches into your pocket when there is nothing in it. As a college student, money is tight. Unexpected costs come from everywhere due to books, food, etc. Sometimes, your money is counted for before you even have any!

What a lot of students don't know is that there are are a hosts of different stores and restaurants that offer discounts specifically for college students. Majority of schools give students their student identification cards (ID's) a while before classes actually begin. Once you receive that card, you're able to immediately begin reaping the benefits. All you have to do is have that card on you to receive discounts. You'd be surprised at how many places are willing to offer discounts. Another point to remember is that these aren't one time deals. As long as you have the ID, you can get those discounts as many times as you need.

Listed are businesses that offer discounts for college students:

- Subway: 10% off your order.
- Buffalo Wild Wings: 10% off your order.
- Chipotle: Free Drink with your purchase.
- Burger King: 10% off your order.
- Sam's Club: $40 yearly for a membership + $15 Sam's Club/Walmart gift card.

- Apple: $200 off a new MAC.
- AT&T: 10% off your monthly bill.
- Sprint: 10% off your monthly bill.
- T-mobile: 8%-15% off your monthly bill.
- Verizon: 18% off your monthly bill.

- Charlotte Russe: 10% off your purchase.
- Sephora: 10% off your purchase.
- Juicy Couture: 15% off your purchase.
- Steve Madden: 10% off your purchase.
- Levi's: 15% off your online purchase.
- Tom's: Free Shipping.

- Target: 10% off online orders.
- Amazon: Free 'Amazon Prime' trial for 6 months, unlimited 2-day shipping.
- Amtrak: 15% off tickets.
- FedEx: 30% off documents, 20% off shipping services.

This is a list of just a few places that offer discounts to college students. Many other places offer discounts as well, but simply don't advertise them as much. Any business that you patronize and are interested in receiving discounts from, ASK. Asking is the key. The worse they can do is say "no". Yet on the other had, you would be surprised as to how many businesses will say, "yes.." Save as much as you can, because any little bit helps.

A Splash of Summer Color

Summer is definitely a time for bright pops of color. It fits the season and is most definitely an attention grabber. Depending on where you may stay, the weather could have numerous attempts to dull your clothing's color palate.
This doesn't have to happen. On a day where there was grey skies and rain, I took it upon myself to brighten the day a little.
I made my theme for the day 'Pink & Black' with accents of gold to accessorize. The colors coordinated nicely and seemed to compliment one another.

- Shoes: Rampage (by Macy's) black sandals with gold studs.

- Pants: Pink 'Rock & Revival' jeans (zipper & buttons gold)

- Bag: Betsey Johnson "Faux-Leather Charm Tote"

I paired this match with a plain black three quarter sleeve tee from Forever 21 and a dainty gold chain from 579 for the perfect splash of color on a day where everything seemed dull.

College Preparation

Being an incoming college freshman isn't easy. From all the talk about scholarships, financial aid, deposits, orientations, move-in days and more.. It can all be a bit overwhelming. Despite what people may think, college gets here a lot sooner than some may think. You can't avoid it, so get ready to prepare yourself. Planning for college is a lot more fun than you think. Planning for college is like painting a picture in your head. Before you know it, you're counting down the days until it is time to move-in your dorm or apartment. Included are a few simple things to do to begin the summer before college begins. Take your time, have fun & enjoy yourself!!

Planning for college:

1. Get familiar with your school and its website.
     - I spent so much time at my schools website. Typing in ".edu" became second nature. Exploring the site and checking out their majors/programs helps a lot. It helps you to know more about your school and it helps to kill time.

2. Explore offered programs.
     - This is YOUR future. What you're majoring in should be something you're sure about. And if you aren't, that's still perfectly fine. Exploring programs and activities helps you to discover your niche. You'll be surprised how many times you'll say, "you can major in THAT?" It might even lead to your dream career.

3. Start thinking of ideas and writing them down.
     - If you're planning ahead, it's a good idea to start looking at residence halls and where you're interested in staying. Start looking for themes and your plan of how you want dorm shopping and designing to go. It always helps to get a good list and start testing the waters.

4. Use social media to connect.
     - Searching the hashtag of your school on Instagram, Twitter & Facebook helps more than you know. It helps you to find organizations on campus, keep up with events/deadlines as well as connect with future classmates. You're able to find group chats with other freshman and can even find your roommate if you don't know anyone!

5. Stay Calm.
     - It can be extremely  difficult to stay calm when beginning to prep. This process can stress you out, but only if you allow it to. If things start to get overwhelming, take a break. There is nothing wrong with just focusing on the present. I encourage you to still be mindful of what's coming.A lack of preparation will lead to extreme frustration and frantic behavior towards the end... Which is something you DON'T want.
